How it works
Paste or type your text into the box. The tool splits it into words, optionally removes common stop words and short words, then counts how often each word (or 2-word / 3-word phrase) repeats. Density is shown as a percentage of the total word count, with the most frequent keywords ranked at the top.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is keyword density and how is it calculated?
Keyword density is the percentage of times a specific word or phrase appears compared to the total word count in a piece of text. It is calculated as (number of times the word appears ÷ total word count) × 100.
What is a good keyword density for SEO?
There is no official rule, but most SEO guides suggest keeping any single keyword's density between 1% and 3%. Densities above roughly 3-5% can look like keyword stuffing to search engines and may hurt rather than help your rankings.
What does the 'ignore common words' option do?
It filters out common English stop words such as 'the', 'and', 'is', and 'of' so the results focus on meaningful keywords instead of the most frequent function words. Turn it off to see the raw frequency of every word, including for non-English text.
Can I check the density of two-word or three-word phrases?
Yes. Switch the phrase length to 2-word or 3-word phrases to analyze how often specific word combinations (also called bigrams and trigrams) repeat, which is useful for checking long-tail keyword phrases.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. All analysis happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never sent to a server, stored, or tracked.
Can I export the results?
Yes. Use Copy Results to copy a plain-text summary to your clipboard, or Download CSV to save the full keyword, count, and density table as a spreadsheet-ready file.
