Frequently Asked Questions
Is my voice recorded or uploaded to FreeToolHub?
No audio or transcript is ever sent to FreeToolHub. Your microphone audio is handled entirely by your browser's built-in speech recognition engine. In Chrome and other Chromium browsers, that engine sends audio to your browser vendor's own cloud speech service (for example Google) to generate the transcript; FreeToolHub never receives or stores it.
Which browsers support speech to text?
Chrome, Edge, and most Chromium-based browsers support the Web Speech API well. Safari has partial support. Firefox does not currently support live speech recognition. Use the latest Chrome or Edge for the most reliable results.
Can I dictate in a language other than English?
Yes. Pick a recognition language from the dropdown before you start speaking. The list covers over twenty languages, and you can switch languages at any time between recordings.
Why does the transcript miss punctuation or add strange words?
Punctuation and accuracy depend entirely on your browser's speech engine, not on FreeToolHub. Speaking clearly, reducing background noise, and using a good microphone all improve results noticeably.
Does it keep listening if I pause while speaking?
With continuous mode on, the tool keeps listening through short pauses and automatically resumes if your browser briefly stops recognition. Turn continuous mode off to capture a single short phrase and stop automatically.
Can I download or copy the transcript?
Yes. Use the Copy button to copy the transcript to your clipboard, or the Download button to save it as a plain .txt file.
